Trail Description

Hidden Grove Purple, Blue, Red, Yellow and Blue Loops in Sechelt are the definition of an easy-going forest wander. This 3.2 km loop has about 108 m of gain, tops out around 200 m, and usually takes under an hour, but most people stretch it to 1–2 hours just exploring. It’s a great choice if you want a calm walk in the woods without committing to a big climb or a long day.

The whole Hidden Grove area is a maze of short, well-marked trails, with coloured posts matching the Purple, Blue, Red, Yellow and Blue Loops so it’s very hard to get lost. Expect soft forest paths, big Douglas firs, ferny pockets, and a quiet, shaded feel the whole way. There are a few signed viewpoints, but don’t come here for sweeping ocean views; this one’s about trees, birds, and a relaxed pace more than big scenery.

Right now the Hidden Grove trails near Sechelt are in very good shape: dry, non-muddy, and easy underfoot, though recent hikers mention they can get dusty when there’s been no rain. The loops are dog friendly and kid friendly, and the further you get from the parking lot and onto longer options like the red loop, the quieter it gets. Grab a quick photo of the trail map at the kiosk before you start, aim to arrive before 9 am if you want the forest mostly to yourself, and plan this as a reliable year-round stroll, with April through October being the most popular time.
