Trail Description

Chapman Bridge via Skylark in Sechelt is a quick, low-effort forest walk with a solid payoff at the creek. At just 4.3 km with about 93 m of gain, it’s more of a relaxed wander than a workout, and most people wrap it up in around an hour unless they stop a lot. Locals use it as an easy dog walk, kid outing, or gentle intro to Sechelt’s trail network.

The trail starts from Skylark Road and heads straight into cool, green forest with soft, mostly flat footing. It feels a bit like a neighborhood trail at first, then slowly turns into more of an “enchanted forest” vibe with carvings, little surprises along the way, and steady creek noise as you get closer to Chapman Bridge. The final spur down to the bridge is steeper, narrower, and can be wetter, but standing on the bridge over Chapman Creek makes the short push worthwhile.

Recent hikers say Chapman Bridge via Skylark is very easy overall, with that one steeper section down to the bridge being the only part that might bother anyone with mobility issues. Expect some mud and slick spots after rain, and occasional logging debris or minor disruptions, so it’s smart to check recent reports if you’re planning a bike ride. Parking is limited to a small roadside pullout, the trail is dog-friendly and busy with pups, and the route works well year-round, with mid to late summer bringing lively creek flow without being too wild.
