Trail Description
Wilson Creek in Roberts Creek is the kind of loop you hit when you just want to move your legs and breathe in some real forest air. At 10 km with 354 m of gain, it’s classed as easy, but it still feels like a solid outing and usually takes around three hours at a relaxed pace. It’s a low-key Sunshine Coast classic for locals who want a quiet, steady walk without the crowds.
The Wilson Creek loop winds through a mix of forest types, from mossy second-growth to more open sections with big trees and soft, needly tread underfoot. There’s one short viewpoint where you can catch a glimpse of the ocean, but the real draw here is the peaceful, shaded woodland and the network of intersecting trails that make it feel like a choose-your-own-adventure. Expect gentle ups and downs rather than big climbs, with a max altitude of about 558 m.
Recent hikers are calling the trail fantastic for getting your steps in, with very few bugs at the moment, though in summer you’ll want bug spray for sure. The loop is well suited to year-round use thanks to its moderate elevation, but after heavy rain it can get muddy and slick in spots, so decent footwear is a good idea. Wilson Creek is dog-friendly on leash, and because it’s quieter than the big-name Sunshine Coast hikes, it’s a great option when you want an easy, longer walk close to Roberts Creek without much fuss.
