Trail Description
Upper Tube in Roberts Creek is a mellow forest loop that feels more like a quiet wander than a big summit mission. At 6.3 km with about 271 m of gain, it’s an easy hike that usually takes around two hours, making it a good leg-stretcher if you’re already on the Sunshine Coast and want some time in the woods without committing to a full-day adventure.
The trail winds through classic coastal forest with a mix of second-growth trees, mossy sections, and plenty of shade. There aren’t any big viewpoints or dramatic lookouts here, so the appeal is more about the calm, the soft forest floor, and the little details along the way, like fungi and undergrowth that change with the seasons.
Recent hikers report that parts of the Upper Tube loop are getting overgrown, so expect some brushy stretches and a slightly more “used but not polished” feel. It’s still easy overall, but long pants are a good idea, and having an offline map helps at a couple of less-obvious junctions. This Roberts Creek trail is best from spring through late fall, with shoulder seasons being great for mushroom spotting, especially if you’re into learning more about local species as you go.
