Trail Description

Roberts Creek Waterfall Loop in Roberts Creek is one of those short, low-effort hikes that feels like you got more than you paid for. At just 1.8 km with about 48 m of gain, it’s an easy half-hour wander that delivers a surprisingly impressive waterfall, quiet forest, and a real “locals’ spot” vibe. You’re close to town, but once you’re in the trees it feels much more remote than the stats suggest.

The loop winds through classic Sunshine Coast forest, with mossy trunks, a lively creek, and a few old-growth giants if you keep your eyes up. The trail rolls gently with a couple of short, steeper bits near the falls, and there are a few side paths that take you closer to the water and different viewpoints. The waterfall itself is the clear highlight: a compact, powerful drop framed by rock and forest, with enough angles along Roberts Creek to explore if you don’t mind a bit of up and down.

Recent hikers say Roberts Creek Waterfall Loop is dry and easy underfoot, but the route-finding is the main challenge. There are lots of junctions and side trails, and markers can be subtle, so download the route to your phone before you lose reception and check it whenever you hit a fork. The path down near the falls is steep and gravelly, so decent footwear and leashed dogs are smart, and there have been recent black bear sightings plus elk and deer sign, so carry bear spray, make noise, and stay alert. This loop works almost year-round, but May through October brings the best combo of flow at the falls, firm ground, and safer footing around the drop-offs.
