Trail Description
The Progression, Dudette, Susie O Street, and Guy's Gulch Loop in Roberts Creek is a classic Sunshine Coast forest wander: long enough to feel like a real outing, mellow enough to stay fun. At 10.1 km with about 406 m of gain and a high point around 615 m, it’s rated moderate but most locals would call it an easy moderate, especially if you’re used to coastal hills. Plan on around three hours of steady walking with lots of quiet, no-frills woodland time.
The loop weaves through dense second-growth forest, with soft dirt, roots, and the odd rocky patch underfoot. You’re mostly under tree cover, so don’t come here expecting big mountain vistas; this one is more about cool air, mossy trunks, and the sound of your boots on the trail. There’s a small cleared section on the way down where you can snag a quick peek at the Gulf Islands, but the real draw is the steady, gradual ascent and long, flowing sections that are shared by hikers and mountain bikers.
Recent hikers describe the Progression, Dudette, Susie O Street, and Guy's Gulch Loop as a “nice long walk” and “nice walk in the woods,” with no major climbs and reliably cool shade on hot summer days. Navigation matters here: there are lots of intersecting bike trails, so download your map before you lose service and keep an eye on junctions. Bears do pass through the Guy’s Gulch side, so carry bear spray, make noise, and turn back if one is hanging around the trail. July through October is the sweet spot for dry footing, though this Roberts Creek loop is walkable most of the year if you don’t mind mud and rain gear.
