Trail Description
Lower Tube in Roberts Creek, BC is a short forest loop that locals hit when they want a quick leg-stretcher without driving deep into the backcountry. At 4.3 km with about 166 m of gain and a high point around 399 m, it’s an easy loop on paper, usually done in about an hour and twenty. The draw here is more about quiet woods and movement than big summit payoff.
The Lower Tube loop winds through classic Sunshine Coast forest, with mossy trunks, ferns, and that damp, earthy smell you only get on this side of the water. The trail rolls gently up and down with a few slightly steeper bits, but nothing technical for most hikers. Views are mostly filtered through trees, so think peaceful forest walk rather than big mountain vistas.
Recent hikers point out there’s a lot of loose rock underfoot, which makes the route feel a bit choppy and less rewarding if you’re chasing scenery. For mountain biking this terrain is more fun; for hiking, many locals see it as a “meh but convenient” option. Wear sturdy shoes with good tread, watch your ankles on the rockier stretches, and expect it to be slick after rain. Lower Tube in Roberts Creek is doable year-round, though winter and shoulder seasons can be muddy, so plan for wet conditions and keep expectations modest on the view front.
