Trail Description

Black Tower Loop in Roberts Creek is a quick hit of classic Sunshine Coast forest, without eating your whole day. This 3.9 km loop climbs about 150 m to around 364 m, so it’s rated easy and usually takes just over an hour, but still feels like a real walk, not a stroll around the block. Locals use it as a go-to after-work workout or a mellow weekend wander in the trees.

The trail winds through dense, green woods with steady ups and downs, a couple of small creeks to step over, and the odd mossy old mountain bike feature off to the side. You’re mostly under tall canopy the whole way, so it stays cool and shaded, with that quiet, damp-forest feel Roberts Creek is known for. Expect to share Black Tower Loop with mountain bikers and sometimes horseback riders, so keep an ear out and give space when you meet them.

Recent reports say fallen trees have been cleared and the route is in good shape, but the junctions can be confusing and side trails make it easy to drift off course. Bring the AllTrails map or a GPS track and check it at every intersection. The loop is hikeable most of the year, with April to October offering the driest footing, and it’s a solid choice if you’re solo; there’s wildlife around, but people report feeling safe just by making a bit of noise as they go.
