Trail Description

Black Tower in Roberts Creek, BC is a quick forest loop that’s ideal when you want a short, easy outing without committing half your day. At 3.4 km with about 132 m of gain, it’s more of a relaxed wander than a grind, usually wrapped up in just over an hour, but still feels like you’ve stepped away from the world for a bit.

The Black Tower loop winds through classic Sunshine Coast second-growth forest, with soft dirt underfoot, ferns, and tall evergreens keeping things shaded and cool. The grade is gentle, the corners are smooth, and the trail is popular with both hikers and mountain bikers, so expect a mix of users but not usually big crowds.

Recent visitors mention running out of daylight, so start early if you’re heading out in late afternoon, especially in fall and winter when it gets dark fast under the trees. The Black Tower trail in Roberts Creek is open year-round and handles rain fairly well, but it can get slick and muddy after storms, so decent footwear is a good idea. Dogs are allowed on leash, and because the loop is short and low elevation, it’s a solid go-to option for a quick after-work walk or an easy warm-up before exploring other Sunshine Coast trails.
