Trail Description

West Marker Trail in Gibsons is a short loop with just enough climb to get your legs working without eating up your day. At 1.3 km with about 93 m of elevation gain, it’s a quick 30-minute outing that feels like a real hike, not just a stroll around the block.

The trail winds through classic Sunshine Coast forest, with a mix of mossy ground, roots, and rocks underfoot as you work your way up toward about 172 m. Trees keep things shaded and quiet, so it’s a solid little escape for hiking, running, or birding, and you’ll likely have long stretches without seeing anyone else.

Current reports describe West Marker Trail as moderate mostly because of the steady climb and some uneven terrain, not because of any sketchy drop-offs or exposure. Good shoes help on the roots, especially after rain when things can get slick. The loop works well from April through October when the trail is drier and daylight lasts longer, but it’s still walkable in the shoulder seasons if you don’t mind mud. Dogs are allowed on leash, and since it’s short, it pairs nicely with other nearby Gibsons trails if you want to turn it into a longer outing.
