Trail Description

Sprockids Intermediate Trail in Gibsons is a solid choice if you want a real workout without getting into full-on sufferfest territory. This 11.7 km point-to-point route climbs about 502 m to around 643 m, so you’ll feel it in your legs, but it stays in that sweet spot of moderate difficulty for most reasonably fit hikers and riders.

The trail weaves through classic Sunshine Coast forest, with a mix of flowing sections and short, punchy climbs that keep you engaged. You’ll move in and out of mossy second-growth, cross a few rooty and rocky bits, and get the occasional peek through the trees toward the hills around Gibsons. It’s popular with mountain bikers, so expect some company and stay alert on blind corners, but there are still quieter stretches where it feels surprisingly calm.

Recent feedback on Sprockids Intermediate Trail has been simple and positive: people are calling it awesome, which lines up with its long-standing reputation as a well-built local network. Expect mostly good tread, but be ready for mud, slick roots, and puddles after rain, and snow or ice higher up in mid-winter. Plan for about 3 hours 50 minutes at a steady pace, bring decent footwear and a layer for the cooler forest sections, and remember it’s point-to-point, so sort out a shuttle or be prepared to tack on extra distance if you need to loop back to your start.
