Trail Description

Sprockids Beginner Loop in Gibsons is a short, easygoing taste of the Sunshine Coast forest, ideal when you want to move your body without committing to a big climb. The loop is about 2.4 km with just 66 m of gain, usually done in around 40 minutes, and it really does live up to the “very easy” rating. It’s a popular warm-up or cool-down lap for locals who ride and hike Sprockids regularly.

The trail winds through classic coastal forest in the Sprockids Trail Recreation Site, with soft dirt, roots, and a few gentle twists and turns. You’ll follow sections like Stinger and Ankle Biter, passing through changing pockets of mossy trees and ferns that give the route a surprisingly varied feel for such a short loop. It’s well marked, and there are plenty of side options if you feel like exploring a bit more of Sprockids in Gibsons.

Recent hikers say Sprockids Beginner Loop is a go-to for kids, new hikers, and “high pain days,” but to watch your footing on roots and wet patches, especially after rain. The loop can get muddy and slick, so waterproof shoes or at least something with grip makes it more enjoyable. Mornings are especially quiet and calm, and this one works year-round, though it’s driest from late spring through early fall; just remember that Sprockids is multi-use, so stay alert for mountain bikes and keep dogs leashed and close.
