Trail Description
Centre Bay Bluffs Wood Trail in Gibsons is a short climb with a solid payoff if you like quiet forest and coastal views without committing your whole day. At 2.4 km out and back with about 143 m of elevation gain, it’s rated moderate, mostly because it heads uphill right away and keeps you working until you hit around 168 m.
The trail winds through classic Sunshine Coast forest, with roots, rocks, and a steady grade that makes you feel like you’re actually hiking, not just strolling. As you get higher, gaps in the trees offer peeks toward Centre Bay and the surrounding coastline, and on a clear day you can pick out islands and distant ridges that remind you how close you are to the water.
Recent hikers describe Centre Bay Bluffs Wood Trail as quiet, with very few people and a pretty steady underfoot mix of dirt and roots, so expect it to be slick after rain and in winter. Plan for about 55 minutes at a relaxed pace, longer if you stop for photos or breaks on the way up. Good shoes with grip, a bit of water, and checking the weather before you go will make this Gibsons hike a lot more enjoyable, especially in the wetter shoulder seasons.
