Trail Description

Section 102 is one of those short Whistler trails that surprises you. At just 3.9 km with about 252 m of gain, it’s a quick out-and-back that still feels like a real hike, not just a stroll around the block. Expect a steady climb to around 800 m, enough to get your legs working without turning into a grind.

The trail itself is classic Whistler forest: packed dirt, roots, and a few rocky bits, with that damp, mossy coastal vibe. Views are more about the trees, light, and terrain than big open vistas, but the setting is calm and quiet, and you’re unlikely to see big crowds. It’s popular with both hikers and mountain bikers, so stay aware on corners and narrow sections.

Section 102 is rated moderate, and that feels accurate; most people finish around the 1.5-hour mark if they just hike it out and back. Some folks have tried dropping down to the road and walking back to make a loop, but reviews suggest it’s better to simply double back on the trail for a nicer experience. Expect the best conditions from April through October, with lingering mud and slick roots early in the season, and bring decent footwear since the short distance still packs in some elevation and uneven ground.
