Trail Description

Rainbow Park and Whistler Golf Course Loop is more of a relaxed wander than a hardcore hike, circling right in the heart of Whistler. At 8.4 km with only 162 m of gain and a max elevation around 688 m, it’s an easy loop that usually takes just over two hours at a steady walking pace. Think casual outing with views, not summit mission.

The route follows the paved Valley Trail around the Whistler Golf Club, with tall trees on both sides that quickly block out the village and traffic noise. It feels surprisingly quiet and green for being so close to town, with a mix of forested stretches and open sections where you get peeks of the course and surrounding mountains. It’s well signed at intersections, so you can shorten the loop, just do the golf course lap, or extend toward Rainbow Park when access is open.

Recent hikers point out that parts of Rainbow Park and Whistler Golf Course Loop can feel like walking alongside roads rather than a backcountry trail, and in winter many people do it on snowshoes or with microspikes for grip. The loop around the golf course itself is flat, paved, and straightforward, but expect only moderate views rather than big alpine scenery. Note that the Valley Trail to Rainbow Park has been signed as closed until June 2024, so check current conditions before you go, bring decent footwear for icy patches, and treat this as an easy, all-season walk close to Whistler’s village.
