Trail Description
Organ Donors Loop in Whistler, British Columbia is a short, punchy climb that feels bigger than its 4.8 km distance suggests. With about 536 m of gain and a top elevation around 1123 m, it’s rated difficult for good reason, and most hikers take around 3 hours to get it done. Expect a steady grind, technical sections, and that classic Whistler forest feel rather than an easy stroll.
The loop winds through dense coastal forest on narrow, rooty singletrack that was originally built with mountain bikers in mind. As a hiker, you’ll be working for your progress, with sharp ups, rocky bits, and a few sections that can feel more like a scramble than a walk. Views are more about moody forest, moss, and glimpses through the trees than huge open panoramas, but the terrain keeps things interesting the whole way.
Organ Donors Loop is popular with riders, so stay alert, step aside when you hear bikes coming, and hike it during quieter times of day if you want more space. The trail can be muddy, slick, and greasy after rain, and roots stay slippery even when the rest of the ground looks dry, so good footwear is key. The best window for hiking here is usually April through September, but early and late season can bring snow patches and lingering wet sections, so check recent reports and be ready for changing conditions.
