Trail Description

Old Binty’s and Rainbow-Sproatt-Flank Trail is a solid Whistler loop if you want real mountain feel without committing your whole day. At 7.2 km with about 480 m of gain and a high point around 1,134 m, it’s rated moderate and most hikers wrap it up in just under 3 hours. Expect a mix of hikers and mountain bikers, so it has that classic Whistler multi-use vibe.

The route winds through cool, shaded forest with soft tread underfoot, then opens to views over Alta Lake and Whistler Village that make the climbing feel worth it. Make the short side trip to the waterfall viewpoint and the paragliding takeoff spot, both of which give you those big open views you came for. The loop can be confusing because trail names on posts don’t always match what you see on the app, so having the route downloaded is almost mandatory.

Recent hikers report that the Old Binty’s and Rainbow-Sproatt-Flank Trail is easy to follow if you stick to your GPS track, but you could get turned around without it. Expect limited parking at the trailhead with a small overflow lot across the road, lots of mosquitoes in warmer months, and occasional bear sightings, so give wildlife space and keep dogs leashed. Snow can linger and sometimes shuts down the best viewpoints early in the season, so late spring through fall is the safest bet for clear trail, big views, and a smooth loop back, with options to drop out via Billy’s Epic if you want to mix it up.
