Trail Description

Harmony Lake Trail in Whistler starts with a gondola ride, which already makes it feel more like an alpine outing than a simple walk. At just 2.7 km with about 123 m of gain, it’s short, easy, and a nice way to stretch your legs at high elevation without committing to a big mission. Families love it, and it’s one of those rare Whistler hikes that small kids and casual walkers can actually enjoy start to finish.

Once you’re off the gondola, the Harmony Lake Trail winds through subalpine terrain toward a calm little lake at around 1833 m. The path is mostly gentle, downhill on the way out and uphill on the way back, with a bit of loose rock near the end where grippy shoes help. The lake itself is the highlight, with clear reflections, a waterfall view, birdsong, and the option to extend a bit higher above the lake for better views when the clouds lift.

Recent hikers say the trail isn’t always clearly marked and can be up to 80% snow covered early in the season, so check conditions and be ready for lingering snow patches. It’s also buggy, especially in mid-summer, so bug spray is basically mandatory. Expect an easy 55-minute out-and-back, more if you’re wrangling kids or stopping for photos and painting by the shore, and aim for mid to late summer for the best mix of dry trail, open views, and fewer surprise snowfields.
