Trail Description
Green River Loop in Whistler, BC is an easy-going forest loop that still gives you that classic Coast Mountains feel without beating you up. At 11.9 km with about 306 m of gain and a max altitude around 764 m, it’s more of a steady wander than a grind, usually taking just over three hours at a casual pace.
The trail rolls through mossy forest and open sections with peeks toward the surrounding Whistler valley, with the Green River often not far away. Because it’s a loop, the terrain and views change enough to keep it interesting, and the gentle grades make it friendly for newer hikers, families, and anyone looking for a longer but low-stress outing.
Green River Loop is shared with mountain bikers, so stay aware on narrower stretches and step aside when you hear riders coming. The route can be muddy or slick in early season and after rain, and roots are common, so decent footwear helps. Most people hike it from April through October, when snow is off the trail and daylight is longer, but always check recent local reports in Whistler before you go, as conditions can shift quickly with mountain weather.
