Trail Description

Comfortably Numb Trail in Whistler, BC is a long, technical point-to-point route that earns its name. At 21.9 km with around 768 m of gain and a high point near 1,025 m, it’s a serious outing that feels remote and rugged, even though you’re close to a resort town. This is officially an expert-level mountain biking trail, but strong hikers use it as a challenging all-day hike or fast trail run.

The route weaves through classic Coast Mountain forest with roots, rocks, bridges, and short punchy climbs that keep you working. You’ll get pockets of views toward the Whistler valley and surrounding peaks, but the real draw is the rolling, technical singletrack and the sense of moving through deep, mossy woods. Because Comfortably Numb is point to point, most people arrange a shuttle between trailheads rather than backtracking.

Current reports are clear: this is an expert mountain bike trail first, so hikers need to stay alert, step aside quickly, and avoid busy bike times if possible. Expect slow going on the rough terrain; the posted 3 h 10 min is very optimistic for hikers, and many will take much longer. The trail is usually best from late spring through early fall, when snow has melted off the higher sections and the roots aren’t slick with ice, and it’s smart to bring plenty of water, a light, and layers in case your day runs long.
