Trail Description

Comfortably Numb and Young Lust Loop in Whistler is one of those trails that sounds intense but is actually a mellow, steady walk if you’re on foot. This 8.9 km loop has about 315 m of gain, tops out around 864 m, and usually takes just over 3 hours, so it lands comfortably in the easy category for most hikers. It’s a classic Whistler mountain bike route, but hikers get to enjoy the same forest and terrain at a much more relaxed pace.

The loop winds through mature coastal forest with a mix of roots, rocks, and smooth sections, giving you that classic Whistler singletrack feel without any major grinds. You’ll cross a few small bridges, contour along the hillside, and get occasional breaks in the trees where you can peek at surrounding ridges and the valley below. The trail is well defined, signed, and has enough variety to keep things interesting the whole way around.

Recent hikers report Comfortably Numb and Young Lust Loop as clean, not overgrown, and in solid shape, though it’s worth remembering that it’s built for mountain bikers, so expect tight corners and rolling terrain. Bikes move fast here, and the riding is tough, so stay alert, step aside early, and keep dogs close. Snow can linger in early spring at this elevation, so the best window for hiking is usually May through September, with drier, grippier conditions by mid-summer.
