Trail Description

Brandywine Falls and Suspension Bridge Trail near Whistler packs a lot into 11.3 km without being a grind, with only about 299 m of gain and a mellow high point around 536 m. Most people wrap it up in about three hours, and the first section out to Brandywine Falls is the obvious highlight, with an easy path and big views down into the canyon that make it feel like a solid payoff right out of the gate.

Once you leave the main Brandywine Falls viewpoint, the loop heads into quieter forest, logging roads, and riverside stretches with a suspension bridge and views toward the Whistler bungee bridge. The walking itself is generally easy, but the middle of the official Brandywine Falls and Suspension Bridge Trail route feels more remote and less polished, with long, straight road sections that are more about distance than scenery, and very few people once you’re past the falls area.

Right now, the big issue is access: the loop shown on many apps crosses private property, is signed no trespassing, and is effectively no longer a legal loop. Hikers are being forced onto the railway or turning around halfway, which is unsafe and frustrating, so treat this as an out-and-back from Brandywine Falls rather than a full loop, or look at nearby options like Lava Lake instead. Expect bugs in the forested sections in warmer months, occasional spring snow patches and mud in shady areas, and bring bear spray and make noise, as black bears with cubs have been seen on the trail this season.
