Trail Description

The Beaver Pond, Legalize It, Cheap Thrills, and Lower Sproatt loop is a fun little sampler of the Whistler trail network, tucked just above the Stonebridge neighbourhood. At 5.3 km with 254 m of gain and a high point around 1016 m, it’s rated easy on paper, but most hikers find it feels more like the low end of moderate thanks to roots, rocks, and short punchy climbs. Expect about 1 hour 45 minutes at a steady, relaxed pace.

The loop starts off Stonebridge Drive and quickly ducks into classic Whistler forest, with tight singletrack, mossy trees, and pockets of views peeking toward Sproatt and the valley. You’ll link sections of Beaver Pond, Legalize It, Cheap Thrills, and Lower Sproatt, weaving between multi-use trails that are shared with mountain bikers and runners. There aren’t huge viewpoints, but the terrain is engaging, the forest is quiet, and it feels surprisingly wild given how close you are to town.

Recent reports mention that some sections are a bit technical, so expect uneven footing, slick roots after rain, and a few short steeper bits that may have you using your hands. This is a popular mountain biking zone, and some of the trails ride in the opposite direction of your hiking loop, so stay alert, follow the signage, and step aside when you hear bikes coming. Because there are many intersecting trails on Sproatt in Whistler, download your map before you go; the loop is hikeable most of the year, but shoulder seasons can bring mud, lingering snow patches, and very slippery wood features. Sturdy shoes and a bit of patience with the navigation make this short loop much more enjoyable.
