Trail Description

Alpine Walk, Overlord Trail and Tree Line Trail is one of those classic Whistler alpine hikes that feels big without totally draining you. At about 6 km out-and-back with 368 m of gain and a high point around 1,936 m, it’s rated moderate and usually takes around 2 hours and 20 minutes, which is very doable if you’re reasonably active.

The route links together the Alpine Walk, Overlord Trail and Tree Line Trail to keep you above the trees for a good chunk of the hike, with constant views of snow-capped peaks and rolling green slopes in summer. You get that wide-open high-country feel pretty quickly, and the scenery stays consistent the whole way instead of just saving the views for a final lookout.

Recent hikers are calling this trail “awesome” for a reason: expect bright green meadows, lingering snow on the surrounding mountains, and a steady but manageable climb. Conditions change fast at this elevation around Whistler, so bring an extra layer, sun protection, and sturdy shoes since patches of snow or wet sections can hang around even in early season. Late July through September is usually the safest bet for dry trail and maximum views, but on clear days outside that window, Alpine Walk, Overlord Trail and Tree Line Trail still delivers a strong alpine fix without needing a full-day epic.
