Trail Description

White Rock Pier in White Rock, BC is less “hike” and more “classic seaside stroll,” and that’s exactly the charm. At just 1 km out-and-back with almost no elevation, this is an easy, flat walk that just about anyone can handle in around 10 minutes, though most people linger for the views. It’s famous as Canada’s longest pier, so you’re really here for ocean air, people-watching, and that long walk out over the water.

The pier itself is wide, wooden, and straightforward, stretching out from the busy waterfront into Semiahmoo Bay. On a clear day you get big views across the water toward the U.S., plus shorebirds working the tidal flats and boats coming and going from the marina. Sunsets from White Rock Pier are a local favourite, and if you want more distance you can easily keep going along the paved beach promenade after you’re done.

Current reports match what locals already know: this is a nice, short stroll with no surprises and very easy footing. No bikes are allowed on the pier, so it stays comfortable for walkers, families, and folks with strollers. Expect paid parking near the start, and heavier crowds on sunny weekends and summer evenings; for a quieter experience try early mornings or shoulder season days from March through August when the weather is mild but the waterfront isn’t too packed.
