Trail Description

Crescent Beach Paddle in White Rock, British Columbia is more of a relaxed shoreline mission than a hardcore hike, and that’s exactly the appeal. This 7.9 km out-and-back route hugs the calm water of Boundary Bay with almost no elevation, so it’s an easygoing two-hour outing that feels like an extended beach walk with bonus wildlife.

You’ll start from the Crescent Beach parking area near Beecher Street and McKenzie Avenue, then walk about 300 metres to the sand and launch point. From there, it’s all about cruising along the shoreline, watching shorebirds work the tidal flats, scanning for seals, and, if you’re lucky, spotting quirky marine life like the hooded sea slug someone recently reported. The views stretch across Boundary Bay toward the North Shore mountains on clear days, and the vibe stays mellow and open the whole way.

The Crescent Beach Paddle route is very easy, but tide and wind matter more than fitness here, so check marine conditions before you go. It’s smart to drop your board or kayak at the beach before parking, since hauling gear that extra 0.3 km can get old fast. This area is accessible year-round, though calm summer mornings and clear fall days tend to offer the smoothest water and best visibility for wildlife, while shoulder seasons are quieter and cooler but still very doable with the right layers.
