Trail Description
The Sun Run Race (Full Route) is Vancouver’s classic 10K experience, following the same route as the famous Vancouver Sun Run through the downtown core and False Creek area. At 10.5 km with only about 73 m of gain and a max altitude around 35 m, it’s more of a city tour than a grind, and most people can walk it in just over two hours. On race day it’s a buzzing river of runners and walkers; on a regular day it’s a relaxed urban route you can tackle at your own pace.
Walking the full Sun Run Race route gives you a front-row look at Vancouver’s mix of skyline, water, and mountain backdrops. You’ll move along busy streets, bridges, and waterfront paths, passing spots people usually only glimpse from a car. Expect some short, noticeable climbs and a few fun downhill sections, but nothing that will scare off a casual walker or beginner runner.
Outside of the official Vancouver Sun Run event, this point-to-point route is open to regular city traffic, so conditions feel very different from race day. Some sections have limited or no sidewalks, so you’ll want to stay alert, use crosswalks, and shift to parallel side streets if a stretch feels too tight. Spring is the classic season thanks to the race, but you can walk or run it year-round; just pick quieter times of day if you want less crowd and traffic, and treat it as a flexible urban route rather than a closed-course race.
