Trail Description

The Stanley Park to Horseshoe Bay Bike Tour in Vancouver is one of those routes that makes you feel like you’ve seen the whole city in a single ride. At 22.7 km with about 319 m of gain, it’s a moderate point-to-point trip that usually takes just over 5 hours at a relaxed, sightseeing pace. You’re rolling from iconic Stanley Park out to the quieter, coastal feel of Horseshoe Bay, with constant views of water, forest, and city.

The ride starts with classic Stanley Park scenery, then follows the shoreline and green corridors past beaches, parks, and neighborhoods that show off Vancouver’s best bits. The path is mostly paved and well-signed, and there’s a nice entry by the Capilano River hatchery area with looping options if you want to explore more. Expect separated walking and cycling paths for much of the route, though they do merge at times, so you need to stay alert around pedestrians and other riders.

Recent riders say this feels like a “tour of all the best of Vancouver by bicycle,” with regular toilets, benches, and water fountains making it easy to take breaks. The Stanley Park to Horseshoe Bay Bike Tour is most comfortable from March through October, when weather is milder and daylight is longer. Bring layers for changing coastal conditions, keep an eye out where paths join, and plan your return from Horseshoe Bay by bus, car shuttle, or a longer ride back if you still have energy in the tank.
