Trail Description

Stanley Park Inner Loop in Vancouver, BC is the classic “innie” route through the park’s core, away from the busy seawall but still close to downtown. At 7.9 km with about 103 m of gentle gain and a high point around 80 m, it’s an easy loop that most people finish in about 1 hour 45 minutes, with lots of chances to slow down for photos, dogs, or a coffee stop.

Instead of hugging the water, the Stanley Park Inner Loop winds through tall trees, quiet side paths, and calm pockets of old-growth forest. You’ll pass spots like Lost Lagoon and Beaver Lake, cross a mix of gravel and paved paths, and get those classic Vancouver contrasts of city skyline peeking through dense green. Many walkers link the inner loop with a stretch of the seawall or a stop at the Teahouse for lunch before looping back.

Recent hikers say the trail is well maintained year-round, with only the odd downed tree to step around and generally light bike traffic compared to the seawall. The big safety note: avoid entering via the bike-only underpass the app suggests; instead, walk a bit farther, cross at the road, and rejoin the path where it’s meant for pedestrians, or start from the West End at Lost Lagoon. Expect crowds on sunny weekends, on-leash dogs are welcome, parking in Stanley Park runs about $3.25 per hour, and as always here, pack out your garbage and respect this historic urban forest.
