Trail Description

Spanish Trail – Salish Trail – Admiralty Trail is a mellow 5.5 km loop on the edge of Pacific Spirit Regional Park in Vancouver, with only about 125 m of gain and a max elevation around 90 m. It’s an easy route that usually takes just over an hour, and it’s a nice option when you want a proper walk without committing to a big climb. Think relaxed forest time with a few views of the water instead of a hardcore mountain mission.

The loop winds through mostly canopied forest, so it stays cool and shaded on warm days, with stretches that open up toward Spanish Banks and the ocean. The grade is gentle, with a few small hills but nothing serious, and kids and newer hikers handle it well. You’ll get a mix of quiet woods, glimpses of the beach, and the odd bike or runner passing by, which keeps Spanish Trail – Salish Trail – Admiralty Trail feeling active but not crowded.

Recent hikers report the trail is well maintained and generally in good shape, with some muddy patches after rain, so shoes with a bit of grip help. You’ll need to cross a road twice and keep an eye out for bikes, and there can be helicopter and plane noise that reminds you you’re still in Vancouver, not deep wilderness. Free parking at Spanish Banks is a bonus outside of peak summer, and this loop works year-round as an easy, go-to forest and shoreline walk when you want something peaceful but straightforward.
