Trail Description

Seaside – False Creek South in Vancouver is the kind of walk you tack onto a Granville Island visit and then wonder why you don’t do it more often. This 7.9 km out-and-back stretch of the Vancouver Seawall is flat, easy, and right on the water, with only about 57 m of total elevation gain and a max altitude around 18 m. It usually takes about 1 hour 35 minutes at a relaxed pace, and the vibe is more “urban waterfront stroll” than “serious hike.”

The route hugs False Creek, so you’re walking past marinas, bobbing boats, city skyline views, and small pocket parks the whole way. You get a mix of people-watching, ocean air, and those classic Vancouver condo-and-mountain sightlines. The path is paved, wide, and shared with cyclists and runners, with side detours down to small beaches and viewpoints if you want to linger.

Recent visitors mention a lovely walk along the water’s edge after visiting Granville Island, then simply returning on foot, which sums it up well. The Seaside – False Creek South trail is open year-round and stays accessible in most weather, though it can be busy on sunny weekends and around rush hours. Dogs are welcome on leash, and the mostly gentle grades and smooth surface make it friendly for strollers and many mobility aids, with just one steeper section where some people may need a hand or choose to turn around earlier.
