Trail Description

Camosun Trail - Huckleberry Trail - Sasamat Trail is an easy forest loop on Vancouver’s west side, running through Pacific Spirit Regional Park near Musqueam. At 4.5 km with only about 53 m of gain and a max altitude around 101 m, it’s more of a relaxed walk than a hike, usually done in under an hour. If you just want a quiet stretch of the legs under big trees without driving far from the city, this loop does the job.

The trail winds through tall second-growth forest, with long shaded sections that stay cool even on warm days. You’ll move between soft dirt paths and some wider gravel sections, with enough variety to keep it from feeling like a straight slog. Expect birdsong, filtered light through the canopy, and the kind of calm you get from being surrounded by trees more than from big viewpoints.

Recent visitors describe the Camosun–Huckleberry–Sasamat loop as “easy,” “comfy,” and “full of fresh air,” and that’s exactly right: no technical bits, no steep climbs, and lots of shade. Trails here can be rerouted at times for restoration, so some junctions may not match older maps; just follow posted signs and you’ll stay on track. Free roadside parking and washrooms near the trailheads make logistics simple, dogs are allowed but must be leashed on some sections, and the loop is best from March to October, though it’s walkable year-round with decent footwear for the mud.
