Trail Description

Avison Trail - Seawall Path - Merilees Trail - Siwash Rock Trail is a relaxed 5.5 km loop in Stanley Park, Vancouver that gives you the classic seawall experience without feeling like a grind. With only about 107 m of gain and a max altitude around 72 m, it’s more of a scenic walk than a hike, and most people wrap it up in about 1 hour 20 minutes. If you’re visiting Vancouver and want that mix of ocean, city skyline, and rainforest in a short outing, this loop nails it.

You start near Prospect Point and drop down toward the Seawall Path, where the trail flattens out and follows the water with constant views. The loop links the Avison Trail, Merilees Trail, and Siwash Rock Trail, so you get shaded forest sections, open ocean views, and a close-up look at Siwash Rock and the beaches. Expect a busy scene with walkers, runners, and lots of bikes, plus regular wildlife sightings like seabirds and the odd seal cruising by offshore.

Right now there’s some tree work near the end of the loop, but it’s easy to detour along the road for the last half kilometre and still finish the circuit. The route is very easy and well maintained, fine for families and casual walkers, and dogs are allowed on leash. It’s good year-round, though it’s liveliest on dry afternoons, and many people plan a stop at Third Beach to sit in the sand, recharge, and watch the action on the water before finishing the loop back toward Prospect Point.
