Trail Description
Tynehead - Serpentine - Sunny - 168 Street Access Trail in Surrey is an easy 4.7 km loop that feels more like a relaxed urban escape than a “hike,” and that’s exactly the appeal. With only 56 m of elevation gain and a high point around 59 m, it’s a very easy route that most people finish in about an hour, making it a solid choice for a quick walk, casual run, or pushing a stroller.
The loop links paved and gravel paths through Tynehead Regional Park, following stretches of the Serpentine River and then opening out into sunnier, more exposed sections on the east side. Parts of the walk can feel surprisingly calm and meditative, especially near the water, though you’ll also spend a bit of time closer to roads unless you duck onto some of the side paths that cut that noise down.
Recent walkers report dry, well-maintained surfaces and very flat grades, so it’s stroller friendly and accessible for most fitness levels. Some sections are in full sun, so bring a hat and sunscreen on bright days, and expect a mix of friendly faces and the odd grumpy look from other users. If you time Tynehead - Serpentine - Sunny - 168 Street Access Trail for early November, keep an eye on the Serpentine River for salmon moving through, and use the network of side trails to shorten or extend your outing as you like.
