Trail Description

Hawthorne Park Loop in Surrey, BC is a quick, easy city escape that still feels like a “real walk.” At just 1.9 km with almost no elevation gain, it’s more of a relaxed stroll than a hike, and most people finish it in under half an hour. It’s a good option if you want some trees, fresh air, and a leg stretch without leaving town or breaking a sweat.

The loop winds through Hawthorne Rotary Park on a mix of paved and well‑kept gravel paths, with a couple of small bridges and a pond view to keep things interesting. You’ll pass big lawns, mature trees, and those well-loved flower beds in the middle of the park, including rhododendrons in season. There’s a large playground near the parking lot and an off-leash dog area at the far end, so it’s a popular spot for families, dog walkers, and casual runners.

Recent visitors say the trail is in good condition and easy to follow, but this is still an urban Surrey park, so expect a bit of trash in places and the odd group with loud music near the playground. Some folks have mentioned homeless camps in the forested edges; they generally keep to themselves, but it’s something to be aware of if you’re walking alone early or late. Watch your step around dog mess, go early for a quieter loop, and enjoy Hawthorne Park Loop year-round as a fast, low-commitment walk close to home.
