Trail Description
Tynehead Perimeter Trail in Surrey, BC is an easy city loop when you want to move your legs without committing to a big hike. The 4.2 km paved loop circles Tynehead Regional Park with only about 50 m of elevation, so it’s friendly for strollers, kids, and casual walkers, and usually takes under an hour at a relaxed pace. It’s more of an urban nature walk than a deep-forest escape, but that’s exactly what makes it so handy for after-work or evening laps.
The Tynehead Perimeter Trail is wide and smooth the whole way, making it popular for biking, running, and steady walks. You’ll get stretches of trees, open areas, and a few interpretive signs that hint at the park’s salmon-bearing streams and local ecosystems, plus access to washrooms near the main access points. On the east side of Tynehead Regional Park you can detour to the heritage barn, a cool bit of local history built with old-school mortise and tenon joinery you don’t see much anymore.
Recent visitors mention two things clearly: the trail is very well maintained and very close to traffic. Parts of the Tynehead Perimeter Trail run parallel to the highway, so expect steady road noise rather than quiet forest, and sections have occasionally been taped off for construction or maintenance, so be ready to follow detours. This loop shines as a low-effort, year-round option for walking or biking in Surrey, with a nice connection to the Green Timbers Greenway and an off-leash dog area just across 168 Street if your pup needs a proper run.
