Trail Description

Surrey Bend Regional Park: Pacific Trail is about as mellow as it gets for a riverside walk in Surrey. This 3.5 km out-and-back route is dead flat, quick to finish in under an hour, and easy enough for kids, grandparents, and casual walkers. It’s more of a relaxed stretch-your-legs path than a full-on hike, with the Fraser River as your constant companion.

The Pacific Trail follows a broad, well-kept gravel path through light forest, open meadow, and wetland areas. Views are low-key but pleasant: slow-moving river, big sky, and the occasional glimpse of Barnston Island and log booms on the Fraser. The grade never really changes, so you can just cruise, chat, birdwatch, or push a stroller without thinking about roots or rocks underfoot.

Recent visitors report the Pacific Trail itself as flat and well maintained, especially compared to the muddier Parson Trail elsewhere in Surrey Bend, which many suggest avoiding if you don’t like roots, bugs, and confusing signage. Expect fewer people on cold winter days and more families using the excellent picnic shelters when the weather warms up. The trail is open year-round but can be impacted by Fraser River flooding, so check the City of Surrey’s Surrey Bend Regional Park page for seasonal closures. Bring bug spray in late spring and summer, keep dogs leashed, and plan this as a calm, easy stroll rather than a scenic viewpoint mission.
