Trail Description

Sunnyside Greenway in Surrey, BC is a quick, no-stress out-and-back walk that links city life with a surprising amount of greenery. At just 2.6 km with only 21 m of elevation gain, it’s more of a relaxed stroll than a hike, and most people finish it in around half an hour. It’s a good option when you want to stretch your legs without driving far or committing to anything intense.

The route starts from South Surrey Athletic Park and follows a paved path alongside Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest Park. You get a steady mix of trees, open sections, and glimpses into the forest trails to the north, plus easy access to the athletic fields and red urethane running track. Expect a mix of walkers, runners, and cyclists sharing the corridor, so stay aware and keep to the right.

Even though Sunnyside Greenway is paved, recent reports say it’s not stroller friendly, so plan accordingly if you’re bringing little ones. Dogs are allowed on leash, and the path stays accessible year-round, with rain just making things a bit slick rather than muddy. Go early or on weekday evenings for a quieter feel, and use this one as a mellow warm-up before diving into the deeper trail network inside Sunnyside Acres Urban Forest Park.
