Trail Description

Serpentine Loop Trail in Surrey winds through the forested heart of Tynehead Regional Park and is one of those quick, easy walks you end up coming back to all the time. At just 2.6 km with only about 24 m of elevation gain and a high point around 36 m, it’s a very easy loop that usually takes around half an hour at a relaxed pace. Families, casual walkers, and locals use it as a regular go-to route.

The trail itself is a mix of gentle slopes, curves, and a few small sets of steps, weaving through tall trees and lush greenery with creek views along the way. The path is generally wide and well-defined, which makes Serpentine Loop Trail feel relaxed even when it’s a bit busy. Expect a classic Surrey forest walk: soft ground underfoot, filtered light through the canopy, and a calm, green setting that feels surprisingly quiet given how close it is to the city.

Recent hikers say it’s a great place to walk with children and that the wide walkways make it straightforward, though the steps and a narrow entrance can be awkward with a stroller. It does get busy, especially on nice weekends, but most people find the crowds manageable. The app map and park signs don’t always match, so follow the Tynehead Regional Park signage if in doubt. Serpentine Loop Trail is open year-round, but it really shines in September and October during autumn colours and the salmon run, when the creeks are especially interesting to stop and watch.
