Trail Description

The Serpentine, Hawthorn and Birch Trail in Surrey’s Tynehead Regional Park is a quick, easy loop that still feels like a mini adventure. At 2.4 km with only 33 m of elevation, it’s a relaxed half-hour outing that works for all ages and fitness levels, including folks easing into walking or just looking to stretch their legs after work.

The loop links the Serpentine, Hawthorn and Birch sections into one continuous path, winding through second-growth forest and brushing up against the Serpentine River on the west side. The trail is wide, well-graded gravel with a few wooden bridges, so it’s stroller friendly and often manageable for wheelchairs, and you’ll pass interpretive signs that point out local plants, wildlife, and some of the park’s history as you go.

Recent visitors describe the Serpentine, Hawthorn and Birch Trail as “fun and adventurous” without being difficult, with a laid-back crowd of friendly dog walkers and happy dogs. It’s open year-round and stays popular in all seasons, though it can get damp and a bit muddy after heavy rain, so light hikers or waterproof shoes are smart. Start from the main Tynehead Regional Park parking area in Surrey, keep dogs leashed where posted, and expect a mellow, social loop that’s easy to revisit often.
