Trail Description

Serpentine Dog Park via Newton Greenway Trail in Surrey, BC is a quick, no-stress outing when you just want to move your body and let the dog burn off some energy. At only 1.8 km with about 9 m of elevation gain, it’s a flat, paved out-and-back that most people finish in around 20 minutes, making it an easy add-on to your day rather than a full mission.

The Newton Greenway is basically a straight, smooth corridor through the neighbourhood, so don’t expect deep forest or mountain views here. Instead, you get an easy, urban-style walk or roll, with enough space for walking, running, road biking, rollerblading, or skateboarding, and the payoff is reaching Serpentine Dog Park where your pup can really have some fun.

The trail is open year-round and is usually in good shape thanks to the pavement, though one short section can be a bit rough for blades or small wheels, so be ready to walk that part. You do have to cross traffic a few times, so keep an eye on kids, dogs, and distracted riders. Serpentine Dog Park via Newton Greenway Trail is best at quieter times of day if you want more space, and a light rain jacket is smart in cooler months since this is Surrey and the weather changes fast.
