Trail Description

Port Mann Bridge Path is a straightforward, urban-style walk with big river views and an easy grade, running between Surrey and Coquitlam over the Fraser River. This 11.1 km out-and-back route has just 126 m of gain, tops out around 85 m, and usually takes about 2.5 hours, though many people just walk to the middle of the bridge and turn around. It’s an easy option if you’re staying in Surrey and want a no-nonsense walk with a solid workout and clear sightlines.

The path itself is wide, paved, and simple to follow, starting from the Surrey side near Robin Park and climbing via ramps and stairs up to the Port Mann Bridge. Once you’re on the bridge, it’s basically flat, with long views down the Fraser River, out to Coquitlam, and on a clear day, to the surrounding valley and mountains. The experience is more about the scale of the bridge and the river below than a forest hike, though there are some interior green corridors and tall pines near the Surrey approach if you want to mix in a bit more nature.

Recent hikers say the biggest tradeoff is the highway noise, which is constant and loud, so don’t expect a quiet escape. The last uphill section on and off the bridge can feel a bit tight and steep, but overall the Port Mann Bridge Path is easy and well-suited to walking, running, or biking. It’s open year-round, and locals suggest going in the evening or on a cool day for shade and better light on the river; bring a layer for wind on the span and be ready to keep dogs leashed the whole way.
