Trail Description

Huckleberry Trail – Moss Trail – Douglas Fir Trail – Hemlock Trail is an easy 5.8 km loop in Surrey’s Green Timbers Urban Forest that feels way more relaxing than its city address suggests. With only about 28 m of elevation gain and a high point around 114 m, this one is more of a mellow forest walk than a workout, usually wrapped up in just over an hour.

The loop winds through second-growth forest with a few impressive remnants of old growth tucked in, giving you that real “big tree” vibe without having to drive out of town. The path is wide, well groomed, and mostly shaded, with side trails peeling off everywhere if you feel like exploring or adding on the short lake loop. Expect a steady mix of walkers, runners, and dog owners, but there’s enough space that you’re not bumping elbows.

Recent hikers say the Huckleberry, Moss, Douglas Fir, and Hemlock Trails are clean, calm, and “zen,” with friendly locals and just a few fallen trees that are easy to step around. The loop in Surrey stays in good shape year-round, though it can get damp and a bit muddy after heavy rain, so light hikers or trail runners are ideal. Dogs are welcome on leash, and if you want quieter conditions, aim for early mornings or weekday evenings when the forest feels extra peaceful.
