Trail Description

The Huckleberry Trail – Cedar Trail – Salal Trail – Douglas Fir Trail loop is one of those “how is this in the middle of Surrey?” kind of walks. At just 2.7 km with only 13 m of elevation gain, it’s an easy, low-commitment wander through Green Timbers Urban Forest that most people finish in about half an hour. It’s a simple way to get a quick nature fix without leaving the city.

The loop winds through second-growth forest on a mix of firm gravel and hard-packed dirt, with lots of side trails if you feel like exploring. You’ll pass Green Timbers Lake, a calm little spot with benches and short paths around the water that’s great for a pause or a snack break. Despite being in Surrey, the trees, birds, and quiet make it feel like a small urban escape.

Recent hikers say the Huckleberry, Cedar, Salal, and Douglas Fir trails are well maintained, signed, and easy to follow, with ample parking thanks to the newer lot off the main road. This loop stays accessible year-round, though it can get a bit muddy after heavy rain, so casual walking shoes with some grip are ideal. Keep dogs leashed, keep an eye out for the occasional coyote, and use this loop as a short stroll, a warm-up run, or a starting point to explore more of Green Timbers Urban Forest in Surrey.
