Trail Description

Green Timbers Greenway in Surrey, BC is one of those low-key routes locals use all the time but rarely brag about. This 10.3 km point-to-point path is flat, easy, and usually takes just over two hours, making it ideal if you want a solid walk or ride without driving out to the mountains. You’re following a green corridor right through the city, so it feels surprisingly calm while still being close to transit and neighborhoods.

The trail links Tynehead Regional Park to the Scott Road and Nordel Way area, weaving past forest patches, open sections, and urban edges. Elevation gain is only about 138 m with a max altitude around 104 m, so it’s more of a steady cruise than a workout, and that’s exactly why it’s popular for walking, running, and casual biking. Expect a mix of paved and packed gravel sections, light road noise in spots, and quieter stretches where you can just settle into a rhythm.

Recent reports call Green Timbers Greenway a very lightweight and beautiful bike trail, which is accurate: it’s friendly for newer cyclists and anyone easing into longer distances. The route is open year-round, though it can get puddly after heavy rain, so waterproof shoes or fenders help in fall and winter. Dogs are allowed on leash, and if you’re new to the area, the Wednesday WALKit program for adults 55+ is a nice way to learn about the Green Timbers Urban Forest history while getting your steps in.
