Trail Description
Blackie Spit in Surrey, BC is one of those easy, low-commitment walks that still feels like a proper outing. This 3.2 km loop is flat, wide, and relaxed, taking most people about 35 minutes, so it’s ideal for a quick stretch of the legs before or after work. You get shoreline, birds, gardens, and big sky views without ever breaking a sweat.
The loop at Blackie Spit winds past public gardens, open grassy areas, and sandy beach sections with views over Mud Bay and the train bridge Amtrak rumbles across. Paths are well-groomed and straightforward, with only about 6 m of elevation gain, so you can focus on the scenery instead of your footing. It’s an easy place to wander with a coffee, snap a few photos by the water, and watch the light change over the bay.
This trail is dog friendly, with leashed pups welcome and a dedicated dog area nearby, making it a popular local spot. Reviewers keep calling out how quiet and calm it is just after sunrise or on winter mornings, when the paths are less crowded and free parking is easier to find. The washrooms near the main parking lot are clean and regularly maintained, and the loop works year-round, though early mornings and cooler seasons bring the most peaceful experience and the best chance at having the place mostly to yourself.
