Trail Description

Trans Canada Trail: Pitt River from Alouette River Dyke is one of the easiest and most relaxed routes you’ll find in Pitt Meadows, and yes, the location is correct. This 7.6 km out-and-back stretch is almost completely flat, with only about 13 m of elevation gain and a max altitude around 10 m, so it feels more like a scenic walk than a workout. Most people wrap it up in around an hour and twenty minutes, which makes it an easy add-on to a busy day.

The trail follows the dykes along the Pitt River and Alouette River, giving you open views of the water, surrounding farmland, and the mountains in the distance. The path is wide, straight-forward gravel, so it’s simple to follow and has lots of room for walkers and cyclists to share the space. It’s a small but pleasant piece of the larger Trans Canada Trail, and the calm river scenery makes it a good spot to unwind.

Current reports say the Trans Canada Trail: Pitt River from Alouette River Dyke is a nice wide gravel trail, great for two people to bike side by side and chat. Expect mostly level, exposed terrain, so bring sun protection on clear days and be ready for some wind. Conditions are usually best from April through October, but it’s walkable most of the year; just watch for puddles and softer sections after heavy rain and use the washrooms at the start before you head out.
