Trail Description
Səw̓q̓ʷeqsən Trail in Delta is a quick, easy riverside stroll that packs more interest than its 0.8 km length suggests. With only about 9 m of elevation gain and a 10-minute walk time, it’s a low-commitment outing that works well for families, casual walkers, or a leg-stretch stop along River Road.
The trail runs out and back along the Fraser River under the Alex Fraser Bridge, with wide open views of the water, working river traffic, and shoreline wildlife. You’ll find benches at a couple of lookouts to sit and watch the river, plus interpretive signs that share local First Nations history and context for the Səw̓q̓ʷeqsən name and artwork.
Recent visitors mention the artwork along Səw̓q̓ʷeqsən Trail as a highlight, so don’t rush it even though it’s short. The path is flat and usually easy in all seasons, but can be damp after heavy rain, so basic waterproof shoes help. Parking is on the south side of River Road under the Alex Fraser Bridge, dogs are allowed and often off-leash in some sections, and the trail’s short length makes it a year-round go-to for a quick, easy walk in Delta.
