Trail Description
Delta South Surrey Greenway – Bog Greenway Trail – Lower Trail is a flat, easy 9.2 km loop on the edge of Delta and South Surrey that feels more like a utility corridor than a classic forest hike. With only 61 m of total elevation gain and a high point of about 26 m, it’s more about getting steady steps in than chasing views, and most people wrap it up in around 1 hour 45 minutes to 2 hours.
The route links sections of South Surrey Greenway with Watershed Park, using the Bog Greenway Trail and Lower Trail to form the loop. Expect mixed surfaces, stretches beside Highway 91 with steady traffic noise, and a very obvious multi-use feel, including horses, bikes, and walkers. It’s a straightforward track to follow, so you can zone out and just keep moving without worrying about navigation.
Recent reports are blunt: this is a muddy, horse-heavy trail with a strong sewer smell in spots, and you’ll spend time dodging manure, especially after rain. Parts of the loop and at least one trailhead have been closed off and on for construction and project work, so check the City of Delta or Watershed Park updates before you go and be ready to shorten or reroute your walk. Coyotes are active in the area and have been seen watching off-leash dogs, so keep pets leashed, avoid dawn and dusk if that concerns you, and expect the Delta South Surrey Greenway – Bog Greenway Trail – Lower Trail to feel more like a functional local exercise route than a scenic destination hike, best in dry weather.
