Trail Description

Pinewood Trail in Delta, BC is a quick, low-effort escape when you just need some fresh air and trees without driving hours into the mountains. At 2.6 km out-and-back with only 34 m of elevation gain, it’s more of a relaxed stroll than a workout, and most people wrap it up in about half an hour. It’s a good option for families, casual walkers, or anyone easing into hiking.

The trail winds through second-growth forest with a mix of evergreens and underbrush, so you get that classic coastal BC feel without any steep climbs. Views are mostly about the forest itself and the occasional opening where you can hear birds and catch a bit more sky. It’s straightforward to follow, and being close to Delta makes Pinewood Trail a solid after-work or weekend leg-stretcher.

Recent reports mention it gets muddy when wet, so in rainy weather or right after a storm, expect soft sections and puddles and bring shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. From March through October, the trail tends to be at its best, with drier footing and more bird activity, though it’s walkable year-round if you’re prepared for typical coastal BC rain. Go early or on weekdays for a quieter experience, and keep an eye out for cyclists since the route is also popular for mountain biking.
